We report on a comparison between a direct measurement of the ux of muons in the atmosphere by the CAPRICE94 experiment and the corresponding values provided by the air shower simulation system ARIES. We use as input for AIRES the primary ux of proton and Helium measured by CAPRICE94. A detailed explanation of the method used to evaluate the ux in both cases is given.
