The validity of the IRI(CCIR) model in the equatorial anomaly region is tested with Total Electron Content (TEC) data of two equatorial anomaly crest stations Lunping in China (solar maximum 1981 to solar minimum 1985) and Rajkot in India (1980, high solar activity). Discrepancies against the IRI show that the (monthly average) IRI (CCIR) scheme cannot correctly represent the very important effects of electrodynamic drifts.
