A comparative analysis of recent planetological data was carried out to determine the specific effects of gaseous atmospheric components on planetary climates, with emphasis given to the effect of volcanic aerosol cloud formation on the greenhouse effect. In connection with sporadic variations in the intensity of volcanic activity on Earth and Mars, a temporal modulation with warm and cold periods was found. It is shown that SO2 and volcanic aerosols have had significant influence on the formation of climate during the early stages of the evolution of Earth and Mars.
