Because of BioServe's experience to date in developing commercial life science space activities, the authors were asked to speculate about the future of such activities aboard the International Space Station (ISS). The easy response to such a request would be to simply cite the successes which BioServe has enjoyed in its ten years of working with numerous industrial and institutional life sciences clients and to let the reader draw personal conclusions. A more responsible and useful projection would be to penetrate to the essence of how and why new products or processes establish themselves commercially. This the authors have done and we also recite ``lessons learned'' from past successes and failures. We attempt to distill from these ``lessons'' recommendations which will bring about true commercialization. The accompanying speculative commercial life sciences projection for ISS is based upon the assumption that these past ``lessons learned'' are implemented.
