In Phys. Rev. Lett. 90, 063003 (2003) and 91, 203001 (2003) the authors
observed deceleration of falling cold atoms in the field of horizontal laser
beam. Deceleration and stopping of the atoms are accompanied by appearance of
radiation in a vertical optical resonator. Here we propose a physical
explanation of phenomenon and final test for such demonstrational experiments.
