Analytic equations are derived for the temperature dependent monoenergetic and two averaged collision frequencies for the electron impact with N2, O2, N, O, He, Ne, Ar, and H in the 100-5000 K range. The expressions are constructed from experimental theoretical models of momentum transfer cross-sections for the target gases; the electron collision frequency was determined in the upper region of the ionosphere (100-500 km) from atmospheric and ionospheric models for the densities and temperatures of neutral and ionic gases. It was concluded that the collision frequencies above 140 km were highest in the winter and lowest in the summer during high solar activity.
