A matrix nodal expansion for a dense plasma consisting of electrons, protons, and iron ions is used to study the thermodynamic conditions in the center of the sun; the Helmholtz free energy is calculated with the use of temperature-dependent potentials for the Coulomb interactions. Small quantum corrections are taken into account in the weakly coupled hydrogenic phase. The e-p-Fe(26 plus) system is shown to be stable for small iron concentrations (0.000001-0.0001).
