Anticipating the results of the magnetometer experiment on the ROSETTA spacecraft, we have taken up the study of a possible source of remanent magnetization of small solar system objects. From meteoretic and experimental evidence it seems likely that a permanently magnetized iron dust population did exist in the preplanetary solar nebula. This gives rise to a selective enhancement of the collisional cross section for certain particles and leads to new aggregation scenarios. We report the first results of numerical simulations on dust aggregation with magnetized and magnetically neutral nanometer-sized particles. The resulting ``accretional remanent magnetization'' of larger clusters could be the starting point of a new line in the formation and evolution of planetesimals.
