Far from being uniformly distributed in space, galaxies are highly clustered. The topology of the large-scale structures delineated by galaxies places interesting constraints on cosmological parameters and the nature of the dark matter. These structures are revealed by large redshift surveys, which map the three-dimensional distribution of galaxies. The current status of the surveys, the implications for our understanding of the structure and content of the universe, and the prospect for enormous advancement with the Sloan Digital Sky Survey will be discussed.
