The reported studies were initiated to gather data on volatile and siderophile trace elements which could be used to search for genetic ties between ureilites and known chondrites. Details concerning the fractionation processes that occurred during the formation of ureilites are also considered. Attention is given to a classification of ureilites, a brief review of knowledge about ureilites, siderophile fractionation among ureilites, volatile fractionation among ureilites, locations of individual ureilites within the parent body, the olivine composition and the temperature history of the ureilite parent body, the origin of the carbon-rich material, and the relationships of ureilites to other groups of meteorites.
