Using the solar magnetic field telescope of Beijing Observatory, radial velocity data on a solar surge was obtained. The structure of the surge and the motion around the footpoint are discussed. It is pointed out that the circular oscillation around the footpoint is probably caused by the drifting motion of charged particles under the action of a macroscopic oscillating electric field generated by two-way diffusion of electrons and ions in the course of the surge.
