We have obtained high resolution optical spectra for a sample of more than 190 early- and mid-type M-stars with FOCES (Calar Alto) and FEROS (La Silla). These data will advance our understanding of the rotation-activity relation over the mass range where stars become fully convective. From our observations we determined the Hα luminosity, which is directly connected to chromospheric activity. We present preliminary results from our sample.
