Ninety unaltered granites from S.W. England show log-normal
distributions for both Cl and F with mean Cl, 507 ppm and mean F 1395
ppm. Greisening increases F but kaolinisation and reddening reduce F.
All these effects cause large decreases in Cl and altered granites form
a separate log-normal population in this element.
