The pion mass in the nuclear matter is protected by the chiral symmetry,
which makes the existence of the S-wave pion condensation in the neutron
star most unlikely. Some subtleties related to the calculation by the
heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory of the pion mass in the dense
matter are discussed. .
