We have constructed a chemical model of shocks in the outflows associated with young stars by calculating gas-phase chemical reactions initiated by icy mantle evaporation from dust grains. Our results show that different physical conditions lead to a variety of molecular abundance ratios in outflows, owing to the dependence of dissociation rates on gas temperature and of depletion rates on dust temperature. Physical properties in circumstellar disks where the outflow originates also affect the abundance ratios. The chemical properties of Orion KL might be explained in the context of this outflow model.
