An infinitely long charged cosmic string of the ``degenerate'' kind which can be described by the Nambu-Goto action, is investigated with respect to stationary configurations in a black hole background. The equations of motion are derived for the string in the equatorial plane of a Kerr-Newman black hole and investigated in some detail ina the extreme Reissner-Nordstr∅m case.
