Certain reflectance spectra of CM2 and C2 meteorite powders have been identified as possible candidates for thermally metamorphosed CI/CM/CR meteorites, based on the absence of the 0.7-micron band and the 3-micron band shape and strength. The trends presently established indicate that thermally metamorphosed meteorites exhibit weaker 3-micron absorption bands centered at longer wavelengths than unheated ones.
