Scientific paper

The depth and rate of fading of short-wave signals at frequencies close
to the maximum penetration frequency over a 2800-km subauroral path are
evaluated and discussed. The analysis indicates that fading in the
absence of disturbances may be attributed primarily to radio wave
interference.
