The 50V(nth,p)50Ti reaction has been studied at a very clean thermal neutron beam of the ILL's high flux reactor. An accurate cross section value of (0.71+/-0.04) mb has been determined, as well as a value of (0.002 364+/-0.000 008) u for the 50-50Ti mass difference. Possible applications in nuclear astrophysics and in reactor technology are pointed out.
