Florensky et al. (1977) presented comments on a paper of Cintala et al. (1976), dealing with the characteristics of fresh Mars craters as a function of diameter. The present note is a reply to those comments and deals with three questions raised by Florensky et al.: (1) the distinction between primary and secondary effects in the definition of fresh Mars craters, (2) the formalistic analysis of the data base and the potential problem of including degraded craters, and (3) the possibility that the inclusion of secondary effects invalidates conclusions about the frequency of occurrence and onset diameters of various Mars crater-related features.
