Three magnetic-field components and charged-particle fluxes with energies of 0.4-15 keV were measured simultaneously by the IB-1300 in the day sector of local geomagnetic time. The position of the cusp was determined according to the spectral characteristics of charged particles precipitating into the ionosphere, and the relationship between field-aligned currents (FACs) in the cusp and the IMF orientation was investigated. The asymmetry of FACs in the northern and southern polar cusps was examined. In addition, intense small-scale currents in the cusp were observed which were accompanied by a sharp increase in the charged-particle flux.
