The present paper examines special features of the angular distribution of plasma waves in the regions of the longitudinal and transverse closing current flowing into (out of) the ionosphere on the auroral geomagnetic lines of force. It has been shown that at the height of the outer ionosphere the sources of the intensive high frequency waves are, besides the beams of precipitating electrons of magnetospheric origin, the beams of secondary electrons, forming in the atmosphere during the ionization by collision. The beams of secondary electrons are formed mainly by the accelerating longitudinal electric field in the zone of the inflowing longitudinal current. It has been shown that at the height of the E-layer the effective source of plasma waves near the lower hybrid resonance is the current of ionospheric ions. The results obtained in the paper may be useful in interpreting the characteristic irregularity of plasma noise measured by earth's satellites, which may be connected with their own rotation.
