ARCHAEOMAGNETIC intensity measurements on 300 European and Central American rock samples have enabled changes in geomagnetic intensity to be studied in detail1-6. The method described by Thellier7 and myself5 was used, and it has been found5,8 that only successive double heating provides reliable results.
