Changes of the indices of sunspot activity are studied separately for even and odd 11-year cycles. Indices examined include the frequency of the origin of new sunspot groups, their mean lifetimes, the number of new sunspot groups on the solar disk, the number of sunspot groups whose mean area during their passage across the solar disc is greater than or equal to 500 millionths of the solar hemisphere (MSH), and the number of groups whose maximum area is greater than or equal to 1500 MSH. Variations in odd and even cycles are compared. It is found that in the even cycles the values of the important indices are higher than in the odd cycles. Two maxima were observed in the odd cycles. Changes in the indices related to changes from one cycle to the next are also discussed.
