Based on an analysis of Cosmos-900 and Intercosmos-19 data on the position of the electron concentration minimum of the main ionospheric trough for winter nighttime conditions, it is found that longitudinal changes in the trough position are weakly dependent on the magnetic activity level and that the amplitude of the changes decreases as the magnetic activity increases. An analytical expression is obtained which relates the position of the electron concentration minimum of the trough to local time, longitude, height, and magnetic activity level.
