It has been demonstrated that one obtains significant correlations in the lower and middle stratosphere between the temperatures and the 11-year solar cycle if and only if one groups the data according to the direction of the 50-mb wind in the Quasi-Biennial Oscillation (QBO). The analysis is extended to 80 km, and it is found that the grouping of the data according to the QBO gave a clear solar signal as high as 80 km. Because the correlations change sign below 55 km when the wind changes from East to West in the QBO, there is no correlation between the solar cycle and complete temperature series below that level.
