The change in the position of the storm tracks in a future climate is investigated using the output of climate models. The location of the storm tracks is associated with the planetary wave structure. Using a simple model describing the dynamics of the planetary wave structure, we support the hypothesis that future changes in storm tracks and planetary wave structure are related to changes in the zonally averaged circulation.
