The spatiotemporal characteristics of the flare activity of 130 sunspot groups are analyzed. It is shown that flares of importance S and the time series of these flares are associated with specific sites in active regions: flare-activity centers. It is observed that periods of flare activity in these centers are followed by an intensification of geomagnetic activity involving sudden storm commencements.
