The paper presents an interpretation of data from the AMPTE experiment, during which an artificial barium ion cloud was produced in the solar wind. It is suggested that a sufficiently small cloud of diamagnetic plasma situated in the solar wind generates a system of electric currents. The solar-wind protons move virtually rectilinearly, while the electrons flow around the cloud. The current that is formed intensifies the magnetic field on one side of the cloud. Under the effect of magnetic pressure, the cloud begins to be accelerated against the electric field of the solar wind.
