Using Parker's method for the quantization of a massless real scalar
field in an expanding universe, it is proved for a Friedman-like model
that the time evolution is not implementable in four dimensions,
yielding some pathological behaviour of the total number of particles
operator. This is not present in the two-dimensional model.
