The solution by Sessin and Ferraz-Mello (1984) of the Hori auxiliary
system for the motion of two planets with periods nearly commensurate in
the ratio 2:1 is considerably simplified by the introduction of
canonical variables. An analogous canonical transformation simplifies
the elliptic restricted problem.
