An ambitious project has been undertaken with the intent of refining the population II distance scale and vastly increasing the power of photometric mapping of the universe. The success of this project requires that data be obtained from both the SIM satellite and ground based observatories. As a part of the ground based segment of this project, it is our task to obtain photometry of RR Lyrae type variable stars in the halo globular cluster M30 and measure their distances. We also seek to accurately determine the age and reddening of the cluster. Currently, we possess a large data set of images of M30 and are seeking to obtain a reliable set of calibration standards for its continuing analysis.
