Three-body ion-ion recombination is a significant factor in the kinetics of rare gas-halide and mercury-halide lasers. Estimates are made of the recombination rates of Ar(+), Ar2(+), Kr(+), and Kr2(+) ions with F(-), and of Hg(+) and Ar(+) with Cl(-) in an argon gas. It is found that maximum rates occur between 2 x 10 to the -6th and 3 x 10 to the -6th cu cm/sec at pressures over 1 atm.
