Scientific paper

A numerical analysis is presented of the induction of a variable magnetic field on the surface of the moon, taking account of the longitudinal and transverse polarizations of the magnetic field of the solar wind and neglecting the galvanic part of the field. The results are relevant to two types of electromagnetic sounding of the moon: (1) magnetic sounding from the lunar surface and from lunar satellites; and (2) electromagnetic sounding which utilizes the tangential components of electric and magnetic fields measured on the moon.
