Shapes of the contact surface of Comet Halley are calculated according to a model in which the position of the contact surface is determined by a balance between the magnetic-field pressure and the ion-neutral drag. Shapes of the contact surface, under various conditions, show some similar features: a round head and a finite tail. According to the analysis, the dimension of the contact surface increases as the comet approaches the sun.
