The radiation pattern of a paraboloidal reflector is calculated by two different methods: a method based on asymptotic physical optics and a method based on the geometrical theory of diffraction. The effectiveness with which the two methods calculate the H and E plane patterns of focus-fed paraboloids with feeds of Huygens source polarization is compared. It is shown that the method based on the theory of diffraction is not as good an approximation as that based on physical optics for calculating scattering from paraboloidal reflectors.
