The C-Band All Sky Survey (C-BASS) will perform an all sky survey in total intensity and polarization at 5GHz to sub-millikelvin sensitivity. This map will serve as a template for foreground subtraction from future CMB studies.
The Northern map observations have begun in Owens Valley, California, with the Southern sky to follow from South Africa. We will describe the state of the observations, with emphasis on the commissioning data.
The C-BASS project is a collaboration between Caltech/JPL in the US, Oxford and Manchester Universities in the UK, and Rhodes University, the Hartebeesthoek Radio Astronomy Observatory in South Africa, and the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia. It is funded by the NSF (AST-0607857) and the participating institutions.
