We discuss the mid-IR and X-ray emission of two ULIRGs hosting a deeply buried AGN. Based on solid evidence from Spitzer spectroscopy the two sources are expected to host a powerful AGN in the luminosity range of Quasars. However, 2-10~keV observations only revealed a weak emission, compatible with being entirely produced by star formation. Two Suzaku follow-up observations revealed the true nature of these objects: in one case, the intrinsic quasar emission showed up above 10~keV, confirming the Compton-thick Quasar 2 nature of this object. Even more striking, in the second object an unabsorbed continuum was detected, 300 times brighter than in the Chandra observation. This huge variation suggests that we are witnessing the "dawn of a quasar", i.e. the phase when the AGN cleans up the circumnuclear environment and becomes visible as a quasar.
