Spectroscopic studies of some young planetary nebulae and symbiotic star sho ws the presence of broad wings in Hα lines. Electronic and Rayleigh-Raman scattering, stellar winds and disks around stars are some of the proposed mechanisms to explain such broadening. In this work we present échelle spectra of eleven objects that show extended wings and we discuss the most probable mechanism.
