Using a new spectrum extraction technique that is far more sensitive than conventional techniques, we have analyzed very deep observations acquired in slitless spectroscopy mode by HST using STIS. From this analysis, we have identified a sample of galaxies at high redshifts on the basis of low signal-to-noise ratio spectra. Redshifts of the galaxies range through z=6.68, which is the highest redshift yet measured. To unambiguosly establish broad-band spectral energy distributions of the galaxies, we propose to obtain deep optical B, V, and R and near-IR J and H images of the STIS field. The goals of the proposed observations are to (1) strengthen the identifications of the very high redshift galaxies by confirming the absence of flux at optical wavelengths shortward of the redshifted Lyαemission lines and (2) improve the redshift determinations in general by extending the existing spectral energy distributions to near-IR wavelengths. By combining the spectroscopic and photometric observations, we expect to identify redshifts of nearly all galaxies in the field to a magnitude limit (through the STIS ``clear'' filter) approaching AB(clear)=27.
