The theoretical basis of the least-scatter-method period-finding algorithm EUREKA is explained, and the algorithm is applied to analyze the combined recent photometric observations of comet P/Halley (West and Pedersen, 1984; Le Fevre et al., 1984: Jewitt and Danielson, 1984). Periods of 0.684 d with scatter 0.24 mag and 2.005 d with scatter 0.22 mag are determined.
