Some methods for predicting the number of observable white dwarfs in globular star clusters are discussed and compared to each other. It is shown that one such method gives fallacious indications, which may mislead planning for future attempts at detecting white dwarfs in globulars. The number of detectable white dwarfs in some nearby clusters is then evaluated and discussed.
