In this contribution we review some recent work on magnetised branes and
non-supersymmetric type I vacua. In particular, we show how stability
arguments suggest that the non-supersymmetric model can involve
magnetised branes in order to reproduce the correct R-R charges pattern
required to cancel tadpoles.
