The boost-invariant tunneling of particles along the hyperbolas of constant invariant time, tau^2 = t^2-z^2, is included in the transport equations describing formation of the quark-gluon plasma in strong color fields. The non-trivial solutions of the transport equations exist if the boost-invariant distance between the tunneling particles, measured in the quasirapidity space eta=1/2 ln ((t+z)/(t-z)), is confined to a finite interval Delta eta. For realistic values of Delta eta the solutions of the transport equations show similar characteristics to those found in the standard approach, where the tunneling takes place at constant time t. In the limit Delta eta -> infinity, the initial color fields decay instantaneously.
