In Stephen Adler's book, "Quantum theory as an emergent phenomenon," the
author starts from a classical mechanics structure and "derives" the formalism
of quantum theory, together with wave function collapse dynamics, the latter
providing the interpretation of quantum theory. A detailed outline of the
author's argument is presented in this book review.
