The statistical-mechanical origin of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy SBH is discussed in the framework of induced gravity models, where the Einstein action arises as the low energy limit of the effective action of quantum fields (heavy constituents). The explicit relation between the statistical entropy of constituent fields and black hole entropy SBH is established.
