A BRDF model for rough surfaces using probabilistic expressions for the shadowing factor and the conditional mean slope was previously proposed. We present here its validation by laboratory measurements on bare soil surfaces, using the European Goniometric Facility (EGO). The model could be used to retrieve the statistical characteristics of land profiles in astronomy and terrestial remote sensing.
