We present a model atmosphere analysis of high resolution UV and optical spectra of the PN central star BD + 33̂ 2642. The derived abundance pattern is best explained by a dust-gas fractionation scenario. Since it it suspected that this process is related to binarity we checked the available spectroscopic material and found evidence for radial velocity variations, indicating a binary nature of BD+33̂ 2642. The measured mean radial velocity is combined with a HIPPARCOS proper motion measurement and the galactic orbit of BD + 33̂ 2642 is calculated. The derived orbit provides strong evidence that BD + 33̂ 2642 is a member of the galactic halo population.
