The paper presents results of observations made in 1977 and 1979 of five barium clouds, produced at heights of 148-188 km. The observations confirm the existence of the DP12 disturbance structure. In addition, an analysis of wind-velocity data has shown that the wind in the polar cap during evening hours is affected by processes in the auroral oval (at least up to distances of several hundreds of kilometers from the oval).
