Scientific paper

The advantages of balloonborne measurements for magnetospheric studies is reviewed and a scenario of possible balloon, campaigns during the Cluster mission, with emphasis on the dayside polar cap region, is proposed. The proposal is preceded by a description of earlier and similar campaigns carried out in northen Europe and the Svalbard Islands (Arctic).
